Print at A8 →A1 is 594 × 841 mm (59.4 × 84.1 cm, or 23.4 × 33.1 inches). It's half the size of A0 and twice the size of A2, which makes it a popular size for posters and display boards.
Eight. Every A size is exactly half of the one above it, so A1 holds 2 × A2, 4 × A3 or 8 × A4 sheets.
A4 is 210 × 297 mm and A5 is 148 × 210 mm — A5 is exactly half of A4, the size you get by folding an A4 sheet in half. A4 suits letters and flyers; A5 is popular for leaflets and booklets.
Images should be 300 DPI at the size they'll be printed. The pixel sizes in the table show what that means for each A size, for example 2,480 × 3,508 pixels for A4.
Yes, if your design runs to the edge. Add 3 mm of bleed on every side (so an A4 file becomes 216 × 303 mm) and keep text at least 3 mm inside the trim line.
They all share a width-to-height ratio of 1 : √2 (about 1 : 1.414). Cutting a sheet in half keeps the same proportions, so a design scales between sizes without stretching.
